HMAS Sydney

HMAS Sydney (l) has a proud history in theRoyal Australian Navy (RAN). She was one of the first light cruisers to enter RAN service and the first warship of any navy to carry and launch aircraft from a revolving platform. But her greatest honour was earned in the Battle of Cocos, the RAN's first ship to ship battle, when she defeated the German raider SMS Emden.
